High-voltage (HV) training for maximum work safety
Working with high-voltage (HV) electric vehicles brings the risk of accidents that can be life-threatening. Our high-voltage training courses teach those working with electric and hybrid vehicles to recognise and avoid hazards when working on high-voltage systems. Our advanced courses are aimed at specialists from the automotive service sector, for rescue forces, as well as vehicle production and development employees who work on or near high-voltage components.
Training to DGUV standards
In Germany, every employee or contractor who is a member of a professional association and works on or in the vicinity of high-voltage vehicles and high-voltage components requires a qualification in accordance with the specifications of the German accident insurance “Deutsche gesetzliche Unfallsversicherung” (DGUV). All high-voltage training courses at VadoTech cover the specified topics of the DGUV I 209-093 directive and are compliant with it.

Which training programme is right for you depends on whether you work on components of series-production vehicles or on pre-production and small-series vehicles. Work on high-voltage systems in research, development and production falls within the scope of application “E” before Start of Production (SoP). Service work on series production vehicles with high-voltage systems occurs after SoP (Application area “S”).
Whether training for application area E or S there are three levels of high-voltage training qualification. All three levels differ in scope, duration and price. For further details, please click on the individual qualification levels.

Our HV training courses take place in our training centre or at the customer’s site, depending on the course. Since practical experience in potentially dangerous situations with high-voltage is crucial, our training courses are mainly held at the customer’s premises. This allows us to show our training participants what is important in everyday work on our training equipment under real conditions. Uniquely we offer all our HV courses in German and English.

High-voltage technology risk assessment
To ensure you get the most out of a training program with VadoTech our electrical engineers can perform a risk assessment for your company before training. One of our high-voltage technology experts will visit your work premises to analyse all high-voltage contact points and potential risks. On this basis, we develop a safety training plan for you, including a recommendation for required training and qualifications.
Additionally, as part of the risk assessment process we can work with your team to develop a comprehensive emergency response plan outlining key risks and suitable measures to be taken.
Training in compliance with industry standards
As the umbrella organisation of the German Social Accident Insurance Institutions, the DGUV specifies the general requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act by means of regulations, rules and information. For the high-voltage sector, DGUV I 209-093 on “Qualification for work on vehicles with high-voltage systems” must be observed as a matter of priority. This requirement superseded DGUV I 200-005 in 2021. You can find more information on the specific content here.
If the requirements of the DGUV are not followed, it is possible that in the case of an accident the insurer will not pay out on a claim. Apart from a possible insurance claim, compliance with the accident prevention regulations is regularly checked by the DGUV. If irregularities are found, orders can be issued or even administrative offences can be sanctioned with a fine of up to €10,000.

Do the DGUV HV guidelines also apply to foreign service providers?
Although the DGUV primarily applies to German insured persons, foreign service providers are also secondarily affected. Since German employees must be protected from occupational accidents by the client, the requirement also affects foreign persons who are in the same workplace as the German insured persons. This is to ensure that foreign employees are also familiar with all safety rules of DGUV I 209-093 and that the risk of injury can thus be minimised.

The price of a high-voltage (HV) training differs depending on the level and previous knowledge. For example, a short training of 3 h is € 179, while a ten-day training is € 2,995.
How soon can a high-voltage (HV) training course take place?
Our course dates are scheduled individually, so the lead time can vary from one week to a maximum of three months, depending on workload.
Are there any prerequisites for taking part in your high-voltage (HV) training?
Basically none. For the qualification in DGUV I 209-093 for high-voltage training, any previous knowledge (none to expert) is taken into account. Only for the completion of LEVEL 3 the following prerequisites are defined:
Do the high-voltage (HV) training courses take place online?
The high-voltage (HV) training level 1 is a theory training and takes place online. For the high-voltage training courses level 2 to level 3, the theoretical part can take place online, the practical part takes place in person.
